YMCA Caroline Mentoring Project

The YMCA Caroline Mentoring Project is a free program for school-age residents of Caroline County. This program provides young people an opportunity to develop a structured, trusting relationship with caring adults who offer guidance, support, and encouragement. The program is designed to develop competence and character in our mentees. Mentee Requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Caroline County school, grades K-12
  • Commit to spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with the mentor
  • Have the support of his/her family for participation in the program

Mentor Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
  • Complete the screening procedure
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Have a current driver’s license and auto insurance

Mentor Time Commitment:

  • One-year
  • Meet 4 hours per month
  • Attend events/activities
  • Attend meetings
  • Attend trainings

Positive Outcomes:

  • Improved school performance
  • More self confidence
  • Improvement in peer relationships
  • Increased trust with relationships
  • Increased overall fitness
